In a country like ours, where the film industry is well set, almost every child born wants to be an actor, which is closely followed by wanting to become a cricketer. The likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have set the fan buzz in youngsters and the elderly alike. Humor is the new phase that our industry is currently going through. And that has led to all the new stand-up comedians rising up to the limelight. It wasn’t like they didn’t exist yet; they just existed under a very different genre, a different niche. One such comedian is Vikalp Mehta, the name of whom you might’ve heard recently.

Vikalp Mehta was born on 12 December 1989 in Pali to a Hindu Jain family. He is the eldest son of Government employee Sanjeev Mehta and Anita Mehta. Vikalp spent his childhood in Pali, Rajasthan. He did his schooling from Pali. He later earned bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Maharshi Dayanand University. He also did diploma in event management. According to his father, he is a born artist and very clear in his thoughts that what he wants to do. He is also very close to his family especially with his mother Anita Mehta.
“I was an ardent fan of Akshay right from the beginning. In fact, I came all the way from Rajasthan to Mumbai and waited the whole day at Mehboob Studio just to click a photograph with him,” he said.
“Akshay Kumar is the biggest reason this small town boy from Rajasthan has established his position in the entertainment industry. His backing has been the decisive factor in my career. Several stars become uncomfortable seeing others imitating them.

“But he has been extremely sporting. He knows me by my name and he introduces me to people saying ‘This is Vikalp and brilliantly mimics me’. I’ve stood in the same frame with him for various advertisements and shows, for which I’ll forever be grateful to him,” he added.

He had also hosted 2016 UBA Pro Basketball League season and as a presenter that was his one of the best performances. Vikalp was also seen in the show Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega on Sony TV in 2009. After performing at Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega, he gained a lot of popularity as an Akshay Kumar look alike. His unique trademark is that he is a lookalike of Akshay Kumar.
