"Sometimes, by losing a battle, you find a new way to win the war." - Donald Trump
Finding new ways is never easy when you have not failed in some other means. This is what the above quote symbolizes the power of failure to open the new doors of achieving success. Today we have a new star in the house who has made his failures in one profession, works wonders for him in other streams. Gaurav Arora, a dietician-cum-actor who started his childhood with a single dream of becoming a cricketer, is now living many dreams simultaneously.
The Journey Since Childhood
Gaurav was born in a middle-class family on March 17, 1995, an era when the popularity of cricket was at its peak. Moreover, he hailed from the heart of the nation that is the capital city of India- Delhi. There was something in the fusion of cricket and Delhi, which prompted many children of the capital to dream about playing cricket. Gaurav was not only living the same dream but also executing his life according to the predefined mantras of being a cricketer.
"Enjoy the game, chase your dreams because dreams do come true." ― Sachin Tendulkar
While coming to the other part of his childhood except for cricket, he was an average student in the school. When his other classmates were busy in bunking the classes, he used to be very sincere in attending all lectures and directly head to his home after completing school. He also did not have much interest in extracurricular activities at that time, and to sum it up, there are only two instances when he was part of some activities apart from studies and cricket. First was his performance in the school play when he was in 5th standard, and second, also the last one was his participation in a dance competition in the 8th standard. At that time, it was challenging to say that an average student without much interest in dancing and acting would be a star in the same category.
Hard work Personified
The best part of the success is that it does not depend on any single profession and only demands hard work and dedication. The same principle was followed by Gaurav when he joined the cricket academy after his 12th to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a cricketer. He was doing very well in his professional training, and when it seems that hard work for so many years would yield into something precious, he had to leave the cricketing career due to some major family issues. It was the same time when his B.com studies also got affected, and a person who was maintaining a great balance in cricket and graduation a few months back was not much happy even after completing his B.com. Disheartened by these painful events, he started helping his father in their shop and used to spend most of his time there. But as it is said that a person can never lose the battle of life until he has the zeal to succeed. Gaurav believed that although he failed to fulfill his dreams, not all has been lost.
It was his self-confidence and support from his friends and parents, which kept his spark of success alive even in his bad days. While working on their shop, he used to get many compliments regarding his looks and became popular as a lookalike of famous cricketer Virat Kohli. One day, his friend insisted on shooting a prank video of him depicting him as the real Virat Kohli in the public places of Delhi. The video was so perfect that many people thought Gaurav to be the famous cricketer and gathered around him for the autographs and selfies. This video shot in April 2017, when uploaded on the channel 'Lame Fame', gathered more than 1 million views on YouTube in just one hour. He became very popular overnight and decided to make more videos in the future. He also started uploading videos on the Tiktok and Instagram, which lend him the title of one of the famous personalities on these social platforms within the next sixth months. It was a real turning point in his life that gives him the confidence to dream more and more about his success. Although he faced many problems like criticism from his relatives and negative comments over the uploaded video, he only concentrated on his goals. He knew that there was nothing wrong with his work, so he ignored any negativity that came in his way of accomplishing his goals. It is the imbibed attitude of Gaurav, which has helped him to become a star with so many achievements.
"I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that won't work." - Thomas A. Edison
Now you may ask that with so many changing dreams and professions starting from cricket to completing his B.com and uploading his videos on YouTube, what else was left to achieve. Success and failures form an essential part of life, and Gaurav was quick enough to understand and adopt this fact. Although he was doing his best in the acting field after his first YouTube video got record views, he also wanted to choose a profession where he could use his personal experience of dieting. When he started the cricket coaching after 12th standard, the first thing he did was to shed the extra 25 Kgs body weight to become fit for the competitive cricketing world. Along with maintaining a rigorous exercise schedule with spending most of the time in the gym, he followed a perfect diet and nutrition. And that is why it seems to be an ideal profession for him when it was still time for him to become famous for his acting skills. His choice might seem to be comfortable from a distance, but it was one more challenge for Gaurav as being from the commerce side, he did not have much bookish knowledge of science questions. Moreover, he was supposed to pass a science test to get admission in the course of a nutritionist. As per his nature, he did not give up on anything and worked hard to pass the examination of the VLCC Institute and completed the dietician course in December 2017.
The Real Taste of Success
For Gaurav, the real success came in the year 2019 when his hard work started paying off, and this Tiktok and Instagram star got opportunities to work with famous personalities like Hardy Sandhu, Guru Randhawa, Rajkumar Rao, and Akhil. He changed his passions many times but never changed the path of success, no matter how difficult it was for him.
"Real success is not, like, materialistic. It is being where you want to be when you want to be, just living your life how you feel, having an ultimate goal, and being able to accomplish it." - Lindsey Wixson
Still very focused on his profession job of a dietician, he never thought of becoming an actor. It was only in the last one or two years with the advent of Tiktok and his activeness on various social media platforms from 2018 to 2019, he got his first break with famous star Hardy Sandhu. He has also worked in a show named 'khatra khatra', and many people and stars praised his work. But when it comes to grabbing the jackpot, he has completed an ad shoot with his ideal 'Virat Kohli'. It seems that he not only resembles Virat Kohli in looks but also has an intense zeal to become successful like him. Gaurav still follows the same principle of putting his fears aside and work continuously to taste success. His utmost focus now is to make people happy through his art and acting skills and create a better society and country.
"If you can stay positive in a negative situation, you win." - Virat Kohli
Life will never be perfect, and it will be wrong to try making it perfect. Gaurav Arora knew that it would be of no use to sit and think about the troubles. He went with the flow of his life and believed in the power of hard work, dedication, and an optimistic approach. From getting inspired by personalities like Virat Kohli, Ronaldo, and from his parents, he has now reached a point where he is inspiring millions of youth to follow his footprints and grab every opportunity that comes during the journey called life.
