Dheeraj Kumar had completed his MBA in 1998 and was an aspiring Entrepreneur. Dheeraj Gupta was very passionate about sweets and wanted to distribute Indian sweets in the line of Chocolate companies but everything went in vain.
During this period he lost almost 50 lakhs which he took as a loan from various sources. It was a golden era of Dominos, McDonald which used to sell burger and pizzas and that success was burning in the eyes of Dheeraj.

He studied the statistics of McDonald’s and Dominos and decided to say a goodbye to the sweets and say Hello to Vada Pav. Vada Pav is the most popular Street Food in Maharashtra and the only reason Dheeraj choose Vada Pav. According to Dheeraj Vada Pav is like Amitabh Bachchan, you don’t need to advertise the product. The sales will start automatically without any marketing and advertising.

Now the only hurdle was MONEY. Already Dheeraj was debt-ridden but his willpower was very strong. He chooses to take a loan once again. He started the JUMBO KING with an amount of 2 lakhs rupees. This is how Jumbo King started his journey and now has become one of the famous outlets for Mumbaikars.
Dheeraj Gupta leased a 150-200 ft space near Malad railway Station and thus started the first outlet of Jumbo King. Vada Pav was sold in every nook and corner of Maharashtra so why only choose Jumbo king? Jumbo king used to sell 20 percent the larger size of Vada Pav than the regular ones in the same price and thus attracted the costumes.
The Inspiration for Dheeraj Gupta
Dheeraj admits that he is the big fan of McDonald. According to Dheeraj and his studies about the current market says that almost all the eatery brands all around the world are originated from the USA. The USA has a better understanding of branding and their execution is also remarkable. The Co-Founder of Sony, Akio Morita, had to settle in the USA to build up the Sony Brand.
The success of Jumbo King
The menu card of Jumbo king contains all the items ranging from 10 rupees to 75 rupees. All the products are new generations of Vada Pav only.
Recently Jumbo King added Jumbosa- the Samosa to the menu.
Jumbo King spread like a wildfire all over Malad. Even people and students from outside cities used to travel to Malad to taste the delicious Vada Pav.
Now it was time for Jumbo King to grow up and spread across the whole state and nation. After a grand success in Malad Dheeraj started franchising Jumbo King across various cities and now it is present in 12 cities.
Dheeraj focus on Jumbo King and his strategies are amazing. In 2020 Dheeraj aims to build up 1,000 Jumbo King Outlets. His dream is to build Jumbo King like ATM’s across the whole country.
