Success story of BTW from a Street Vendor to Fast food chain

It is always true that everyone has a story. However, it is not necessary that every tale is shared, but today we have an exciting story to share with you all. It is a story of positive thinking, determination and hard work which has paid off in style. We are talking about the BTW, Bitto Tikki Wala which was started as a street vendor and now it has been transformed into the fastest growing food chain in Delhi-NCR. Let’s take a look at how the founders Mr. S.R Yadav and Mr. R. K Yadav made it possible.

Early Background and History of BTW

You never know what will come your way but your heart always tells you what you want. It was the same case with Mr. Satiram Yadav, the founder of BTW. Before starting the BTW, he used to be a teacher in Ayodhya and popularly known as ‘Master Ji.’ He was not satisfied with this teaching only. He always wanted to start something on his own to show his mettle. This was the time when his mentor and other well-wishers suggested him to start his own business, so he moved to Delhi.

BTW's Journey.

After moving to Delhi, he incurred a huge loss in one of the business. However, he did not lose hope and started selling North India street food such as Chaat, Bhalla, Papri and aloo tikki as a street vendor. He was accompanied by R.K Yadav, a relative of him. They were only two people, but their way of managing was pretty good. They never compromised with the quality of food. Their hard work paid off, and soon they became so famous that people started calling S.R. Yadav as ‘bittoo.’ However, this name has nothing to do with him and is only the name he used for their stall.

Expanding the Business

S.R. Yadav always knew that he wants to make it large, so he keeps going day by day. At last, one outlet was opened in “Rani Bagh” in 1991. This was just the beginning and then he with his partner R.K. Yadav, went on expanding their business. They started opening their outlets in the prime locations in Delhi-NCR. Soon they start getting the attention of people, so they decided to diversify their business in catering too.

  • The BTW which was famous for its Tikkis soon started offering a huge menu which includes Namkeens, gift pack, badam milk, veg biryani, Tikki, Kaju katli, Bengali sweet, tandoori platter, thali, idli dosa, golgappe, vada pav, etc.
  • The BTW growth rate was amazing, and that is why it became a brand rather than just a name.
  • Many leading and experienced people have joined the BTW and are constantly thriving to beat the competition in different parts of the country.
  • They have a lavish Marketing Office, located at Netaji Subhash Palace and a great infrastructure at every single outlet.

The Famous World Record by BTW

On 12 January 2012 Mr. Sanjeev from Bittoo Tikki Wala also bagged the world record to his name by creating the biggest ‘Aloo Tikki’ having the diameter of 5 feet by using 50 kg potatoes and dry fruits at  Ambience Mall, Gurgaon. It took almost 35 minutes to prepare this Tikki. This gave a further boost to the image of BTW and had increased its base of Customers. It has also helped BTW to flourish its market outside India.


BTW family has witnessed rapid growth in the last few years. It has always been possible due to the living legend whose life story and how he became an entrepreneur should be a point of the lesson in school and management institutions. He has inspired many young entrepreneurs who want to chase their dreams and want to be successful in life in any possible circumstances.
